A showroom sells you the top layer. Most floors that fail, fail from what is under it: damp coming up through the slab, boards that move, a dip nobody levelled.
So we start at the bottom. Sweep it, test it, seal it if the reading says so, screed it flat, and only then lay the floor you picked.
